The opportunity

The E2E Business Analyst is responsible for guiding individual epics from Identification to Product Management approval. After the epic/scope is approved, the E2E Business Analyst works with:

  • Product delivery manager;
  • Development teams (Agile, DevOps, Waterfall);
  • Customer service/Operations.

Responsibilities

Initiate the development activities necessary to realize the epic’s business outcome hypothesis

After the initiation, the E2E Business Analyst may have some ongoing responsibilities for stewardship of the epic and follow-up. As the features and capabilities that define the epics are incorporated into the Solution, the E2E Business Analyst returns to other duties or takes responsibility for other emerging epics/scopes. Before this, a clear handover to a dedicated Product Owner or equivalent for a development team is needed.

Typically, an E2E Business Analyst works with the one or two epics/scopes at a time that falls within their area of expertise and current business mission.

The E2E Business Analyst’s responsibilities begin early in the epic’s/scope’s life cycle

They include: Working with stakeholders and subject matter experts (POs among others) to define an epic using the ‘epic hypothesis statement’. Working with Omnichannel internal teams and teams in other part of the Acceptance, Worldline and potentially external Suppliers to develop cost estimates used in Participatory Budgeting. Working with internal teams to size the epic and provide input for economic prioritization based on Weighted Shortest Job First (WSJF), the business case, and other relevant factors supporting the product manager in demand management board or arrow processes for a go/no-go decision.

The Epic/Scopes that the E2E business analyst drives are based on business cases. Epic/scopes of Enabler character are driven by the Solution architect. To ensure the success of both continuous synchronizations are required between the E2E Business analyst and Solution architects.

The E2E Business Analysts Epic/scope preparation is used as support when the Product Manager presents the Epic/scope to the in demand management board or in the Arrow processes

Approval, however, is not automatically granted, as enterprises typically have ideas and opportunities that far exceed capacity. Accordingly, when presenting the epic, the E2E Business Analyst should focus on the merits of the business case of a specific epic/scope, secure in the knowledge that the collaborative discussions with the Product manager and Demand Management Board will ensure that the optimal Investment choices

If the epic/scope is approved, E2E Business analysts

  • Collaborate with Product and Solution Management and System Architect/Engineering to decompose the epic into features and capabilities and help prioritize these backlog items in their respective program and solution backlogs:
    • e2e BA – describes the Scope as a feature description on confluence;
    • Decompose the scope in the E2EO project JIRA.
  • Participate in Program Increment (PI) Planning, System Demo, and Solution Demo, whenever there is critical activity related to the epic;
  • Work with Development Teams that perform research spikes, create proofs of concept, mock-ups, etc.;
  • Coordinate and synchronize epic/scope-related activities with sales, marketing, and other business units, E.g.:
    • Updating internal and external developer portals;
    • handing over to operations team;
    • handing over to customer services.
  • Facilitate, as needed, the implementation of the epic through the continuous delivery pipeline and release on demand the role of the E2E Business Analyst is considered complete when the epic is no longer a Product Management concern and the development of the epic/scope is in a phase where the E2E Business Analyst’s role is no longer providing value.

Your profile

  • Master Degree in IT or related field;
  • Fluent in EN;
  • Relevant experience as IT Business Analyst or Product Owner;
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills;
  • A knowledge of the Payment sector would be a great plus.
