For our Enterprise Imaging solution suite we are currently seeking a UX Design Teamlead to join our team in Ghent or Mortsel, Belgium.

The UX Design Teamlead is a highly motivated individual who grows UXD awareness within the company and who guards the long-term vision on user experience of Enterprise Imaging solutions in order to improve patient care and to maximize business value. He/she is part of a multi-functional team responsible for definition, development, delivery, serviceability, and lifecycle of software products used in Agfa.

The UX Design Teamlead leads a small team of UX Designers and closely collaborates with Product Managers and end-users to deliver safe & effective healthcare IT products. They are conscious of the costs to build, deploy and maintain user interfaces; continually striving to ensure an optimal user experience.

As a key member of the Product Management team, you will be involved in the development and delivery of a product suite that enables healthcare providers to consolidate and integrate health records for millions of patients across regions and nations. Using the latest technologies, you will interact directly with R&D and customer project implementation teams, ensuring successful design and specification of the overall solution. You embrace new technologies, are eager to learn, and are motivated knowing that what you are doing will save and improve lives.

You advise our team of architects, developers, verification engineers, and work with end-users to analyze new functionalities and design a GUI for it. You ask the right questions during design discussions, revealing gaps in the requirements gathering. You are a genius when it comes to finding simple UXD solutions for very complex use cases.

As a UX Design Teamlead you are responsible for:

  • Collaborating towards a long-term usability and user-interface plan for new products or for the redesign of existing solutions;
  • Applying conceptual thinking to create desirable and feasible solutions across diverse product releases, platforms, and devices, smartly bringing together user needs, business goals and technical realities;
  • Helping to drive the growth and culture of user experience within the team and the company;
  • Collecting and analyzing end-user needs;
  • Creating graphical and UI elements for new functionalities;
  • Preparing and presenting design proposals to various stakeholders;
  • Reviewing software requirements from Product Managers, safeguarding excellent user experience;
  • Setting up, managing and conducting end-user testing using UI mockups, interactive prototypes, analytical tools … to learn end-user preferences, attitudes and behaviors and to receive feedback on new or extended application features;
  • Analyzing UX related customer complaints and come up with proposals to improve user experience;
  • Maintaining a cohesive style guide ensuring consistency in visual elements and software behavior;
  • Modernizing the look and feel of existing software taking into account its user-base;
  • Assessing usability of competitive solutions;
  • Build, coach and drive a small team of UX Designers in using modern UX techniques and methodologies and achieve business critical targets.

What you bring to the table:

  • A degree in Industrial Product Design or equivalent through experience;
  • Demonstrated work experience in a similar position;
  • Thorough knowledge of UX methods like interviews, observations, brainstorm, personas,…;
  • Knowledge of creating interactive prototypes;
  • Experience with responsive web design and knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, CSS and comparable languages;
  • An eye for graphical design;
  • Experience with visual design software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop;
  • A team player with excellent (English) communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with colleagues and end-users;
  • Open-minded and considering other people’s opinions and ideas;
  • Talent to quickly turn opinions, feedback and observations of end-users and key stakeholders into usable concepts within the solution constraints;
  • Good time-management skills and ability to work efficiently on multiple projects simultaneously;
  • Keep up to date with UXD trends;
  • Ability to travel world-wide, including overnight travel.
