The European Accounting Manager is a full-time member of the project team and is responsible for the detailed design of the company’s business processes in the SAP S/4 Fashion system. He/she/they may also work with the Global Project Management Office (PMO) and Global FICO Team to help ensure a global perspective for business process decisions. As part of the core business process team, the European Accounting Manager actively participates in the analysis and decomposition of LS&Co’s business and its processes, documents the business process requirements, and designs the system to support the organization’s “To-Be” process vision. As such, the European Accounting Manager is the essential liaison between the project and the end users and should be a champion of the solution within the business. The European Accounting Manager will also aid in the design of reports, forms, interfaces, conversions, enhancements, workflows, and user authorizations. He/she/they would be expected to actively lead and participate and drive in workshops and presentations to validate business processes and solutions with the end user community. He/she/they is also expected to actively participate in the system testing phase to ensure that the system that has been built meets the business requirements. In addition, the European Accounting Manager will partner with the training team to identify business processes and technical system tasks to be documented, provide training and business process input to the end user training team, review training materials, and deliver end-user training to the larger end-user community. The European Accounting Manager reports to the Europe FICO Lead.

This role will support several areas of subject matter, including integration of acquired entities into global operating processes, supporting regional DC projects, and in-region inventory accounting.

This role will focus on the European SAP S/4 implementation and will have the opportunity to roll onto future Asia and South America releases should there be mutual interest.

Skills

The European Accounting Manger must have:

  • In-depth knowledge of accounting and business processes in inventory accounting, general accounting, and wholesale and direct-to-consumer sales;
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to move forward with incomplete information;
  • Strong influencing skills and the ability to present project details to senior management;
  • Experience as a current SAP system user;
  • Respect of his/her/their peer group and end-user community for his/her knowledge and skills;
  • Empowerment to make decisions on functional, process, or operational changes;
  • Excellent team player skills, with strong oral and written communication skills;
  • Ability to raise relevant issues, drive for solution, and make decisions under time constraints;
  • Experience with system implementations preferred;
  • Experience with conducting presentations and training;
  • Application software skills, including presentation, spreadsheet, and word processing applications;
  • Ability to adapt to changes;
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, hands-on environment;
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to multi-task;
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting;
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule on occasion, to collaborate with team members in different time zones/countries and/or meet critical project deadlines.

Key Responsibilities/Tasks

The European Accounting Manager will perform the following main functions:

  • Represent the business requirements for his/her/their functional area;
  • Responsible for stakeholder engagement with respective Subject Matter Experts (SMEs);
  • Define business processes and provide input to system configuration decisions in his/her/their area(s) of functional expertise;
  • Provide input to the Global Project Management Office and Global FICO Business Team to help ensure a global perspective for business process decisions;
  • Identify, document, and resolve issues;
  • Develop business process documentation (process flows, business process procedures, etc.);
  • Develop presentations;
  • Assist in the development of training materials (identification, documentation, validation, etc.);
  • Identify test scenarios and develop test scripts;
  • Test system(s) configuration, development objects, and user-authorizations;
  • Provide first line of support during implementation stabilization period;
  • Support data conversion activities (strategy, data cleansing, validation, etc.);
  • Deliver training to end-user community;
  • Assist in formal and informal change management activities.

Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or systems;
  • Background in inventory accounting, revenue accounting, and/or general accounting preferred;
  • 7+ years of professional work experience;
  • Accounting background, particularly U.S. GAAP;
  • SAP system user experience, SAP S/4 HANA preferred;
  • 2+ years of leadership experience is a plus;
  • Experience with system implementation projects a plus;
  • Experience with internal audit, consulting, or process improvement projects a plus.
