As the Senior Business controller you are responsible for the financial reporting & support of the Strategy, People & Corporate Communications and Legal business P&L’s. You’re the go-to financial and strategic sparring partner for the business leaders, helping them understand their figures and how to improve them. You are not afraid to challenge ideas or suggest new ways of working. You create financial insights & analysis to support the business in their day to day working and decision making.
You will report to the Director Controlling Corporate & Customer Operations while supporting 3 Senior Leadership Team members and their Leadership team within your area.
In this role you’ll get a lot of freedom to manage your own work and to develop a profound relationship with your senior stakeholders.
Responsibilities & activities
- Provide the necessary financial & business insights to help our senior management in strategic decision taking when new business ideas are launched, as well as productivity and process improvements;
- Bring financial discipline to the businesses through regular data-driven financial performance reviews;
- Perform monthly closing and follow up on revenues & costs to secure accurate financial figures, while challenging the business leaders on their results;
- Create budget & forecast in close cooperation with the business;
- Ensure that all purchase and financial procedures are respected.
Our ideal Senior Business Controller
- Master degree in accounting, business, finance, related areas or equivalent work experience;
- You have at least 7 years of professional experience, preferable in business controlling;
- Collaborative problem solver who thrives as part of a high performing team;
- Structured and organized thinker; excellent written, verbal and PowerPoint communications (able to challenge and communicate to senior management);
- Ability to work in a highly complex environment, applying helicopter view & strong stakeholder management skills;
- Excellent quantitative skills, with the ability to build detailed models in Excel when needed;
- Integrity, excellent judgment, and discretion;
- Apply a “hands on” mentality in a quickly changing environment;
- Languages: professional English is a must; Dutch & French are an asset.
