About the role

Within the Financial Control Unit, the Group Controllership team aims to safeguard operational excellence and compliance in the areas of technical accounting, financial consolidation, statutory accounting and key financial processes.

As a senior general accounting and revenue controller, the candidate will ensure smooth compliant revenue recognition accounting process including monthly review of revenue information, specific ad-hoc revenue and IFRS15 analyses for example when a new product offerings is launched, quarterly account reconciliations and year-end audit preparation. The candidate, together with the Group Controllership Manager, will have regular contacts with the Group Financial Controller, the billing and pricing departments and other key Finance Managers which requires strong interpersonal communication skills both written and verbal. Finally, as being part of the group general accounting team, you will also have to collaborate and support on global general accounting activities. You will plan, organise and control general accounting operations and control/analyse balance sheets/profit & loss accounts to ensure accuracy of accounting records and compliance with internal procedures and accounting rules.

As a senior general and revenue accountant you will:

  • Lead the accurate and timely monthly and annual closings/analysis in compliance with Swift quality standards. This includes accounting entries, accounts reconciliation, reviews of data and trends, and the creation of revenue reports/analysis for upper level management.
  • Be in charge of revenue and IFRS15 ad hoc in-depth analyses, including review of accounting treatment related to launch of new products or sale offerings. Provide information, documentation, comments and recommendations to management and to concerned departments
  • Prepare revenue notes for the annual report and support in the audit process.
  • Maintain contacts with relevant internal and external parties in order to answer queries, capture information and resolve pending issues.
  • Coordinate the relationships with the internal and external collaborators (e.g. Swift billing, pricing and FP&A departments, accounting system experts, financial auditors).
  • Find opportunities for process and internal control improvements and lead and/or control implementations of solutions. May also participate in and/or lead projects within the department.
  • Build and maintain working knowledge and understanding of key business drivers and strategy for area of expertise.
  • Support the team on the group general accounting processes including the consolidation, intercompany and monthly closing processes, the entity controlling of the group and headquarters.

What would make you successful?

  • University degree in Finance and Economics or equivalent experience. A masters level degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • At least 5 to 7 years of experience within a financial position, of which 3 years in a financial audit company.

The ideal candidate would demonstrate

Technical profile:

  • Good SAP knowledge
  • Proficient in IFRS 15 is a must and knowledge about other IFRS is an asset
  • Fluent in English and in either French or Dutch
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Good technical accounting knowledge in revenue recognition, broader accounting subjects, monthly booking entries and related account reconciliations
  • Knowledge of the reconciliation tool Blackline is an asset
